Student Participation in Higher Education Governance
The Bologna Seminar on Student Participation in Higher Education Governance was organized jointly by the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, the Council of Europe and European Students Union (ESU).
Objective
The objective of the Bologna seminar, which will take place on 8-9 December 2011 in Yerevan, will be to look into the current (burning) issues of student participation in higher education governance, from institutional to national and international levels, outlining the main problems and obstacles, looking for examples of good practice and proposing a way forward.
Main topics
An overview will be provided of the main developments regarding student participation in the European Higher Education Area. The seminar will also look at the current national policies on student participation in institutional governance and practice of student participation in university governance. It will focus on the role of universities and student organisations in encouraging student participation in institutional governance. Finally, a panel debate will address main challenges and identify ways forward.
The European Students’ Union will be able to present its materials, including a new Handbook on student participation in governance etc, the student rights' charter and the mapping exercise on students' rights.
